On November 21, the Stephens County Boys Basketball team traveled to Evans High School to open their season facing off with the Academy of Richmond County. Both teams entered the contest with limited numbers due to football season. The Indians took 8 players down to compete. Although Stephens competed, they fell 48-39.
This past Tuesday, the Indians faced off with Rabun Gap after one day’s practice with the whole team. Rabun Gap is known for 4 quarters of pressure defense. This would be a challenge for Stephens who is not in basketball shape. The Indians used almost everyone on the roster to combat the pressure of Rabun Gap. The game went back and forth until the Eagles got hot in the third quarter hitting several three pointers. After battling all game, the ball just seemed to not want to go in for the Indians. The final was 83-73, putting Stephens County at 0-2 on the season.
