STEPHENS COUNTY BASEBALL  1973 AA STATE CHAMPIONS REMEMBERED

The Stephens County High School Baseball program has erected a Memorial Plaque representing the 1973 AA State Champion Baseball Team. Memories of this team still surround Stephens County and Indians Baseball.  Terry Reed, former Stephens County Indian, was instrumental in realizing the dream, securing funds, and creating the plaque. Stephens County High School is grateful for Mr. Reed’s work in getting this memorial completed.  A big thanks to Mr. Brad Randall and his Construction Class at SCHS for their craftsmanship and construction of the memorial.

“This was a special group of boys playing ball together through the Little Leagues and all the way through school ball” says Greg Pitts, a member of the 1973 AA State Championship team.  Pitts shares that “The team bonded in our early years and continued to grow so close all the way through.  We are still close and continue to be special friends today. The talent level was very good. From top to bottom of the lineup, we all liked to hit, pitch, and play this game. I am so fortunate to have been a part of this group of boys and so many talented athletes. We do have great memories of playing ball together.”

Go Indians!
